Preschool and Kindergarten

PRESCHOOL

The King’s School Preschool is an early childhood education program focusing on learning through play in a Christian setting. We encourage each child to grow socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually through a variety of activities including:

  • Free Play

  • Modeling

  • Activity

  • Biblical Framework

Preschool is a full-day program that follows the regular academic calendar, including breaks. For the 2022-2023 school year, we offer three different enrolment options:

  • 2-Day Program (T/Th)

  • 3-Day Program (M/W/F)

  • 5-Day Program (M-F)

Preschool is available to children who are or will be 4 or 5 years old in the calendar year they begin the program. Children who turn 4 between January and June may start Preschool in January, pending space availability.

KINDERGARTEN

Our Kindergarten is a Christian-centered, Manitoba curriculum-based classroom that focuses on the whole child. We provide a safe, caring, structured environment that supports children’s social, emotional, physical, academic, and spiritual development. Students will learn through a variety of hands-on activities, direct instruction, and play-based learning. The program is designed to be fun and engaging while maintaining a strong academic focus.

Play is the most natural way for children to make connections both socially and intellectually. The classroom is a bright and inviting space that offers numerous options for the students to play, learn, and explore during our daily Free Choice Time.

English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, Visual Arts, Fine Motor Skills, Social Skills, Health, and Bible are taught through direct instruction, modeling, stories, and thematic studies. Students participate in daily PE classes and Creative Arts is offered four times per cycle. After Christmas break, the students will also begin to visit the library once per cycle.

We encourage open communication between home and school. A detailed monthly newsletter helps to keep you informed of what is happening in the classroom. Parents are encouraged to take an active role in their child’s education and learning. We strive to nurture and strengthen each child’s individual learning abilities and spiritual needs. Our program is a language-rich, creative learning environment that supports many learning styles.

Kindergarten is a full-day, part-time program with the following classes:

¨ Class A: Mondays/Wednesdays, and alternate Fridays

¨ Class B: Tuesdays/Thursdays, and alternate Fridays

Students who require Monday-Friday enrollment can apply for our Kindergarten and Preschool Hybrid program.
